Baked Beans

Picture: Dad and I on our John Deeres.

My Dad makes some great baked beans. At every gathering he brings his beans and at every gathering somebody asks for his recipe. Here's his secret.

Wally Matson's Baked Beans.

A gallon of beans.

4 cans of Bush's Beans into a pot.
Some molasses, about a 1/4 cup.
As much chopped onions as you want.
A handful of brown sugar.
Don't measure nothing, just put it in.
Mix it and then lay bacon across the top.
Cover the top of the beans with bacon. It takes about a pound, or more.
Bake at about 275 degrees for 4 hours or whenever the bacon turns black.
